The Irish were led by quarterback Joe Montana, who threw 3 touchdown passes--2 to tight end Ken MacAfee and 1 to running back Vagas Ferguson. Miami's lone touchdown was a Kenny McMillan scoring pass to tight end Steve Alvers. It was Notre Dame's last victory over the Canes in Miami.
